Announcement from Japan:

50% Reduction of Official Fee for Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises

for All Foreign and Domestic Applicants

Now, Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises can receive a reduction for “Official Fees:

Fee for Requesting Examination, Annuities from 1st to 10th years, and Fees for International Application”

(in case of a request for examination being filed after April 1, 2019).

If your client satisfies the below requirements, please let us know. We will proceed the procedure

for reduction without a certificate document.

1. Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises (Corporation/ Sole proprietorship)

Fee for Requesting Examination and Annuities from 1st to 10th years: half reduction

Transmittal Fee/ Search Fee/ Fee for preliminary examination of International Application: half reduction

Industry	Number of regular employees	Capital amount/total amount of investment
Manufacturing industry / Construction industry / Transportation industry / Others	Less than 300 employees	less than 300 million yen
Wholesale business	Less than 100 employees	less than 100 million yen
Service industry	Less than 100 employees	less than 50 million yen
Retail business	Less than 50 employees	less than 50 million yen
Rubber products manufacturing	Less than 900 employees	less than 300 million yen
Software service industry / Information processing service industry	Less than 300 employees	less than 300 million yen
Hotel business industry	Less than 200 employees	less than 50 million yen

※Above requirements plus not dominated by Large Company

※Corporation shall satisfy either of the above requirements for “number of employees” or “capital amount.”

※Sole proprietorship shall satisfy only the requirement for “number of employees.”

2. Small- and Medium-Sized Venture Company (Corporation/ Sole proprietorship)

Fee for Requesting Examination and Annuities from 1st to 10th years: one third reduction

Transmittal Fee/ Search Fee/ Fee for preliminary examination: one third reduction

Sole proprietorship

・Less than 10 years after the establishment

Corporation

・Less than 10 years after the establishment and less than 300 million yen capital amount/total amount of investment

・Not dominated by Large Company (corporation other than the one with less than

300 million yen capital amount/total amount of investment)

3. Small-Scale Enterprises (Corporation/ Sole proprietorship)

Fee for Requesting Examination and Annuities from 1st to 10th years: one third reduction

Transmittal Fee/ Search Fee/ Fee for preliminary examination of International Application: one third reduction

Sole proprietorship

・Less than 20 regular employees (less than 5 employees for commerce or service industry)

Corporation

・Less than 20 regular employees (less than 5 employees for commerce or service industry)

・Not dominated by Large Company (other than Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises)
